# Six Step

The standard drive method for drone motors. The maturity of this motor control mode has enabled it to benefit from years of refinement, giving it a broader compatibility with motors out of the box. This algorithm is a low-effort option for reliable, responsive systems.

# FOCAL

Hargrave’s in-house drone motor control methodology. It offers smoother motor torque, which allows quieter operation at low speeds and improves motor efficiency. FOCAL is a good fit for those seeking quieter and more efficient drones.

Due to the additional complexity of the FOCAL algorithm, its out-of-the-box compatibility with drivetrain setups is not as broad as Six Step.
