Thermal Performance
the thermal dissipation of the micro flux is highly dependent on a number of factors including input voltage, output voltage, output current and ambient temperature it is recommended to test micro flux in your configuration and observe internal temperatures during operation or via extracting the logs using the hargrave configurator the thermal dissipation required per channel can be estimated using the thermal loss charts in the thermal loss section micro flux is designed to be able to operate without airflow through natural convective cooling in many applications for best results when convective cooling, ensure the unit is mounted with the heatsink side facing directly upwards in this configuration a power dissipation of 6w per channel will result in a temperature rise of 50 °c \[90 °f] steady state when using natural convective cooling the channel temperature takes 25 minutes to reach steady state, so higher losses can be allowed for significant operating times an airflow of 8m/s across the heatsink is sufficient for the unit to operate in any configuration within specification at 20 a output per channel please contact hargrave if you need efficiency or loss information for configurations outside of those provided
